Recorded during Kurt Masur's tenure as Kapellmeister of the Gewandhaus, this recording features Mendelssohn's Symphony No.4 in A major, which charts his journey through Florence, Rome and Naples and Mussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition', in which the composer describes 10 paintings by Hartmann, framing each by the 'Promenade'.
