This release features a famous 1972 recording of "Walton's Belshazzar's Feast" that the composer, then celbrating his 70th birthday, greatly admired at the time. Walton wrote his spectacular retelling of the biblical story of King Belshazzar for the 1931 Leeds Festival. Scored for baritone soloist, double chorus, large orchestra, organ and two brass bands. Also featured two early overtures: the bustling "Portsmouth Point" and "Scapino."
