Filmed at the ornate Abbey Church of Waldsassen in April of 1990, this first-time DVD release captures the legendary Leonard Bernstein conducting the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in three 18th-century sacred works by Mozart
The concert programme includes Mozart's late "Ave, verum corpus", written for the feast of the Corpus Christi; the motet "Exsultate jubilate", composed for the castrato Rauzzini in 1773; and the unfinished Mass in C minor - a score many consider to be Mozart's finest and most personal sacred work
