Born in Moscow in 1969, Boris Berezovsky studied at the conservatoire there with Eliso Virsaladze and attended private courses with Alexander Satz. Following his debut at London's Wigmore Hall in 1988, the Times described him as an artist of exceptional promise, a highly virtuosic and incredibly gifted pianist. Two years later, in 1990, this promise was confirmed when he won the gold medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Having played with a number of international orchestras, like the London Philharmonia, the New York Philharmonic, with the BBC Symphony and the New Japan Philharmonic, Boris Berezovsky has recorded a considerable number of works, notably solo works by Chopin, Schumann, Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky, Balakirev, Medtner and Ravel as well as the Transcendental Studies by Liszt and concertos by Rakhmaninov, Tchaikovsky and Liszt. His recording of the Rachmaninov Sonata was awarded the "Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik" and his CD of works by Ravel was specially recommended by Le Monde de la Musique, Diapason, BBC Music Magazine and The Independent on Sunday.
