Whitesnake was formed by the vocalist David Coverdale in January 1978. Previously he had recorded two solo albums: one of them entitled "White Snake". Joining Coverdale were well known musicians Micky Moody, Bernie Marsden, Brian Johnston, Neil Murray and drummer Dave Dowle. The band had their big international breakthrough with their album "Ready an¿ Willing" in 1980. In 1982 the line-up changed completely with only Coverdale and Lord remaining. In 1990 the band was put on hold for a while. In 1994 Coverdale, Vandenberg and Sarzo reformed Whitesnake together with three new members, resulting in a short tour. New line-up changes followed until 1999 when Coverdale restart his solo career once again. In 2002 it was time again for a NEW Whitesnake to reform. Whitesnake is an enormous international success band, selling over six million copies in the U.S. alone.
