Released in 1999, it focuses exclusively upon his extraordinary success as a pop vocalist by lining up 22 of his all-time greatest hits. Cushioned by carefully arranged instrumentation, Cole articulates each song gently in a warm and magnetically persuasive voice. This easily digestible sampler will work best for those who desire nothing more than an accessible "best-of" collection. If you want to explore Cole's background as an extraordinarily adept jazz pianist, look into his excellent recordings from the '40s or even follow the trail back to 1936 for his earliest appearances on record.
