Recorded: Athens Concert Hall - Megatron Recording Centre

This album, Dimitri's third Candid outing is markedly different from the previous two relaese. With the 'spartan' accompaniment of bass n' drums (but what bass and drums!), it is indicative of Vassilakis's constant probing into his musicality and desire to continue growing as an artist.
Here, he not only performs intriguing and stimulating duets with himself but has added vocalising and drumming to his repertoire. In his words "This collection of pieces is akin to a suite. A singlre theme (G-A-C-Eb) unfies all compositions, either as part of the tunes or within the solos, where it is develoed (always round the key of C) to address each specific piece and mood. Groove pices work as a synopsis of the ideas of the album. With bass loops consisting of the opening bass lines for "Paralell Lines", "Ocean" and the middle drums/tenor sax duet, with me on both instruments, working freely on the rhythmic and melodic ideas on the album.
The last 4 tracks were recorded approximately a year after the rest of the album. They represent who I am now, musically and express how my attitude towards the opening material developed through live performances." "Little One" was written for 4-year old boy Nestor. Dedicated to Sonny Rollins, my soruce of inspiration, especcially his "Freedom Suite" with Max Roach and Oscar Petiford."

The contributions in drive, melodic concent and sheer free-wheeling musicality from jazz masters Essiet and Watts is immerse and the empathy these three stars achieve is truly remakable and the album represents another milestone in the ever expanding musical universe of the gentle Greek giant.
