Jazz / Post-Bop
Recorded January 16 & 17, 1994 at Clinton Recording Studio, NYC.
On Tenors Of Our Time everyone takes matters seriously, including Ron Blake, who adds some strong tenor solos alongside Branford Marsalis and Joshua Redman, plus a lovely soprano spot on "Once Forgotten." Hargrove matches them solo for solo, a dynamo on the burners and a confidant on the ballads. As a group, they produce a seamless meeting of experience and youth, of artists who have brought the jazz art to its present elevated plateau and who show every indication of taking it even higher.
