From the first notes of Night Vigil, a charismatic original by Hammond B-3 legend Melvin Rhyne, it's obvious that Latin Dreams, which Rhyne co-leads with fellow Naptown native, drummer Killer Ray Appleton, has a remarkably robust groove. Along with Lineage Records founder/guitarist Ilya Lushtak and Latin percussion whiz Milton Cardona, this is music that keeps toes tapping and heads poppin'. But there's a touch of passion here as well, as the Quartet balances the groove with a mellow rendition of The Very Thought of You.
