Influences on the music of Outside Sources range from Ornette Coleman, Wayne Shorter and Joni Mitchell to Shostakovich and Ligeti. The adventuresome music is the result of a band that worked together for years and has honed a particular interplay. Michael Bates is a very creative bass player, a gifted composer, and program coordinator of the International Jazz Workshop at Banff Centre of the Arts. Regular performances on the East Coast and Canada; Canadian pre-release shows throughout June 2006.
