Bill Frisell - electric and acoustic guitars, banjo Hank Roberts - cello, voice Kermit Driscoll - bass Joey Baron - drums
Guitarist Bill Frisell had one of the most stimulating and eccentric regular bands of the mid- to late 1980s. The highly versatile Frisell, whose playing ranges from Jim Hall to rock and Nashville while including sounds never previously heard on guitar, found complementary spirits in cellist Hank Roberts, bassist Kermit Driscoll and drummer Joey Baron. Together, the quartet performs nine of Frisell's diverse and colorful originals on this wide-ranging set, plus Thelonious Monk's "Hackensack." Well worth several listens by open-eared (and tolerant) jazz fans. ---Scott Yanow, All Music Guide |
