The Transition Sessions (Connoisseur Series) is a 2 CD set. Three rare Transition albums by Donald Byrd and Doug Watkins are collected here. "Byrd's Eye View" (with one bonus track) features Jazz Messengers Hank Mobley, Horace Silver and Art Blakey with guest Joe Gordon. "Byrd Blows On Beacon Hill" is a quartet affair with Ray Santisi and Jim Zitano. "Watkins At Large" includes Mobley, Kenny Burrell, Duke Jordan and Art Taylor. Important early hard bop by some of its greatest practitioners.
