Romero's band, consisting of percussionists David Silliman (Aretha Franklin) and Gilad (Al DiMeola), bassist Mario Rodriguez (Gato Barbieri), saxophonist Oscar Feldman (Paquito D'Rivera) along with various guest artists, makes this two "made for discrete multi-channel" recording extraordinary. This projects was recorded, mixed and mastered in discrete multi channel specifically for the SACD release.

Born in Argentina and raised in Andalucia, Spain, Romero began performing internationally at a very young age with his mother, the acclaimed singer Estela Raval. After studying with Segovia disciple Roberto Lara, Romero later played and/or produced with such artists as Al DiMeola, Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin, as well as saxman Chico Freeman, among others. He has recorded tracks with platinum superstar Alicia Keys, for the Doctor Doolittle II release.

Un Segundo Una Vida was a labor of love over a year in the making, and includes such guests as Gumbi Ortiz, Manolo Badrena, Raul Jaurena, Fahim Dandan and Estela Raval. Recorded at BearTracks and The Clubhouse studios in NY state, the natural acoustic environment of each world class room was beautifully incorporated into the production. Deeply based in the roots of flamenco, it transcends in its explorations of exotic rhythms and rich vocals, comfortably crossing international boundaries. Billboard magazine gave 'Segundo' a Critic's Choice review, noting that this release could make Romero a household name. Inside the music you will find amazing musicianship and profound lyrics in La Vida Nueva; a song co-written with his mother, Estela Raval or, in Luna de Plata a duo with the Egyptian La Conja. Un Segundo Una Vida, is also a daring and experimental fusion that plays with exotic rhythms as in Sarabanda, whose mix of Santeria songs, as interpreted by Gumbi Ortiz, blending afrocuban percussion with flamenco guitar. Enjoy the explorations of the Arabic origins of flamenco and Mediterranean rhythms with the mystical vocals of Palestinian singer Fahim Dandan in Detras del Velo. La Calle del Olvido, thanks to the wonderful accompaniment on the bandoneon by Uruguayan Raul Jaurena, creates a perfect and subtle balance between old world instrumentation and modern arrangements. The infusion of flamenco with Argentinean rhythms comes from his paternal musical heritage (Ricardo Romero-The Five Latinos" and his years growing up in Buenos Aires.
