"Transfers to digital from best available source material (original metal parts, shellac records, test pressings or earlier tapes). In the absence of original metal parts for these very early, largely pre-Decca selections, almost all source materials were 78 rpm test pressings and shellac records provided by Steven Lasker, John R.T. Davies, and Dan Morgenstern of the Institute of Jazz Studies, although some of the last group of selections are from early tape transfers."
