Gil Parris is a powerful guitarist whose style is soaked in the blues while at times being quite rockish and influenced by jazz. He dominates this live set even with the strong playing of his group, particularly organist Jeremy Baum and electric bassist Joe Ferry. Parris rips into the material, turning "Ain't No Sunshine" into the blues and makes James Brown's "Sex Machine" fit easily into his repertoire. Fans of intense blues guitar solos will definitely enjoy this grooving program.
