Jackie McLean - alto saxophone John Jenkins - alto saxophone Wade Legge - piano Doug Watkins - bass Art Taylor - drums
Altoists Jackie McLean and John Jenkins pay tribute to Charlie Parker throughout this blowing session, not just on Parker's blues "Bird Feathers" but in practically every phrase they play. McLean became much more individual within a few years while Jenkins would fade from the scene altogether. This likable jam session also features a fine boppish rhythm section (pianist Wade Legge, bassist Doug Watkins and drummer Art Taylor) and plenty of tradeoffs by the two altoists. ---Scott Yanow, allmusic
