A Carnegie Hall Christmas is a great collection of classical interpretations of traditional carols. There are a couple of contemporary tunes, such as "The Christmas Song" and "Winter Wonderland, " awhich are given rich orchestral treatments, but most of the album consists of lush, luxurious arrangements of songs like "Twelve Days of Christmas, " "Silent Night" and "Joy to the World, " all of which make for ideal holiday listening, no matter what the occasion is. ---Rodney Batdorf, allmusic
