In this 1980 session, the incomparable vibaharpist Milt Jackson leads an all-star group in seven excursions through the blues. The album's variety is a tribute both to the inexhaustible possibilities of the blues and the ingenuity and resourcefulness of these great players. Each member of the front line--Milt "Bags" Jackson, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, and Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis--has a style as distinctive as his nickname. The pieces include Benny Carter's haunting "Blues in My Heart"; Lester Young's classic blues-with-bridge, "D.B. Blues"; and a wondrously sensuous slow blues of Jackson's, "Other Bag Blues."
