Bhajan it is the Indian name of the spiritual song, a chant of the mystical content. In India exists a long tradition of mystical songs, composed by great spiritual teachers, poets, philosophers...In this CD we find songs which are attributed to Kabir - great Indian mystic, Guru Nanak - founder of the Sikh religion and other personages of India.
All songs of the CD have been composed in span of the XVI-XVIII centuries and they have been recorded in original languages. The singer (Radha Punja- Patrizia Saterini) has gone over 20 times in India for study the Indian music and to approach to the spirituality of India. Also the other musicians have studied the Indian music or they originate from India (Clarence Swapan Gomes).
In the recording we can listen to original Indian instruments (sitar, tabla, bansoori, tampura, santoor, harmonium) and others (saz, fretless guitar). Listening to this music we could taste the sonorities and feelings, hidden in the beauty and depth of these ancient songs.
This CD has won the first prize of JUST PLAIN FOLKS competition in the category Indian Classical/Traditional (USA 2006). |
