Recorded: Dec 1964
Turk Murphy (tb, voc (tracks 3,15,18)) Bob Helm (cl, voc (tracks 1,6,10,13)) Don Kinch (tp) Pete Clute (pn) Bill Carroll (tu) John Gill (bj) Thad Vandon (dm. 1964 and)
At the time of these performances the band was minus a regular trumpet, banjo or tuba and was operating as a quartet; and while Turk was excited about the sounds he captured on his Ampex recorder, he was reluctant to release them complaining that they were tuba and banjo thin. Not any more, Turk! After a thirty-four year intermission, later band veterans Bill Carroll and John Gill jumped on the bandstand in Mike Cogan's studio and created an ambient Italian Village sextet in one short dubbing session. Any question about veracity involving this CD should be addressed to Clairvoyant Communications Net for commentary. |
