 Bill McHenry - tenor saxophone
 Ben Monder - guitar
 Reid Anderson - acoustic bass
 Paul Motian - drums

Bill McHenry is a bandleader on the rise. He has been an important asset to the New York City jazz scene for years, although a little below the radar. McHenry started as a member of the celebrated Small's Jazz Club community that has produced many contemporary stars, including Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Guillermo Klein. Since then, McHenry's rich saxophone voice has enriched a number of amazing ensembles including Klein's Los Guachos, the legendary drummer Paul Motian's Quintet and his own Quartet.

On his first recording for Sunnyside, Roses, McHenry is joined by the aforementioned Motian along with Ben Monder (guitar) and Reid Anderson (bass). This recording of forward leaning original compositions will definitely put McHenry on the map as a leader that should be watched.

Not every tenor saxophonist of Bill's generation has taken the trouble to have a truly distinctive tone, but Bill has had his own sound for as long as I have known him...
