The accomplished Polish trumpeter presents a concept album "Wolnosc w Sierpniu" (August Freedom) that accompanied the opening of The Warsaw Rising Museum. It is a soundtrack for permanent exhibition at the Museum, which was established to commemorate Warsaws heroic outburst against Nazi occupants in 1944. For over 40 years Tomasz Stanko has been regarded as Poland's best trumpeter. His recent releases on ECM and his recent tours of North America have brought this talented and passionate musician to a wider audience. Sta?ko has explored many approaches to improvisation. He worked extensively with Cecil Taylor in large ensemble contexts, and led a number of groups of his own. |
