Abstract Logix is privileged to sign Alex Machacek to its recording label unit and is excited to release one of the most stunning guitar records of the year. Nine new compostions, [SIC] features sensational drummer Terry Bozzio, as well as Austrian young guns, Mario Lackner and Herbert Pirker on drums,Raphael Preuschl on upright bass, and the beautiful Sumitra on 1 vocal cut.
All compositions by Alex Machacek except:
Indian Girl co-composed by Sumitra Nanjundan:

Djon Don co-composed by Terry Bozzio: Over the course of a whole lifetime as a passionate observer and chronicler of the music scene, with a particularly keen interest in guitarists of all stripes, I have been blown away innumerable times by extraordinary players who bring something remarkable and personal to the table. Alex Machacek is one such extraordinary talent.
Combining jaw-dropping technique with a fertile imagination and a playful sense of humor, the Austrian six-string phenom has concocted an audaciously brilliant manifesto in [sic]. Imagine a composite of Allan Holdsworth's stunning legato chops and advanced harmonic language with Mike Keneally's exacting virtuosity and Frank Zappa's fiercely uncompromising "difficult music" and you're getting close to where this visionary new talent is currently operating. He is perhaps the only guitarist on the planet who could cut the impossible charts of Zappa's Jazz From Hell and simultaneously breathe life into them.

Bill Milkowski, Jazz Times, Jazziz The way Alex composed around my improvisations is more beautiful than I could have imagined! I'm honoured to be a part of this masterpiece."

Terry Bozzio "Alex Machacek's music starts where other music ends".

John McLaughlin Alex Machacek is the cream of the crop when it comes to guitarists. I have not heard anyone like him for a long time. His music and ideas gives me the same joy like I felt when I heard John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Wayne Krantz, Michael Landau or Shawn Lane. I cannot thank Shawn Lane enough for letting me know about this genius back in 2002. And the guy is only 34.. I cant imagine what he will be doing years later. He is an absolute original and one of the leaders of the next generation of guitar playing.

A native of Austria, guitarist Alex Machacek's composing style is clearly influenced by Frank Zappa, utilizing similar quirky, unpredictable lines and playing at a virtuoso level. One of Zappa's former sidemen, the phenomenal drummer Terry Bozzio, plays on three tracks, though his work was evidently recorded in advance for Machacek to incorporate into his finished pieces. The opening to the frenetic "Dijon Don" (jointly written by Machacek and Bozzio), suggests "The Black Page" (Zappa's showpiece for Bozzio), though Machacek is evidently responsible for the impressive piano parts as well, while the inserted commentary into the title track by Randy Allar was also a favorite Zappa tool. The leader's wife, vocalist Sumitra Nanjundan, joins him for the exotic "Indian Girl Meets Austrian Boy." The music throughout [Sic] is quite impressive, easily eclipsing most of what passes for instrumental rock or jazz fusion. Highly recommended.
