Project G-7 is a unique showcase in which 7 of the premier guitarists in jazz pay homage to the great Wes Montgomery on the 25th anniversary of his death. All songs on this CD were made famous by Wes, or written in tribute to him. Led by Kenny Burrell, G-7 represents several generations of jazz guitarists and a phalanx of styles. Joining Burrell in this session recorded in March and April 1992 are guitarists Kevin Eubanks, Gene Bertoncini, Ted Dunbar, Rodney Jones, Jack Wilkins and William Ash, along with the rhythm section of bassist Rufus Reid, and drummer Akira Tana. |
