Jazz
Charlie Palmieri (piano); Albert Demercado, Louis M. Laurita, David Lee Tucker (trumpet); Julian Priester (trombone); Louis Ramirez (timbales); Edward Rivera (bass)
Gifted pianist Charlie Palmieri, older sibling of keyboardist Eddie, fused R&B and Latin in a swinging, rhythmic style that was uniquely his own. A graduate of Juilliard, Palmieri found a second career in the 1970's as a teacher of Latin music and history. This original Atlantic recording will have you dancing and moving to catchy tunes such as "Mambo Show," "Panama's Boogaloo," Steve Wonder's "Uptight (Everything's Alright)," and more.
Mediocre attempt at crossover Charlie Palmieri's recording for Atlantic was good but not spectacular. Much of this reaches phenomenal heights of improvisational latin jazz piano, but, in the interim, it is just so-so. |
