The blues is their shared passion and the mission that bonds them together - Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer. Nevertheless, both men have found their own, individual ways of giving expression to their passion.

Edgar Winter, the singer, saxophonist and keyboard player, was born on December 28, 1946, the second son of John and Edwina Winter, and brother to Johnny Winter, in Beaumont, Texas. At High School, Edgar fell in love with the saxophone sound of the soul-jazz aces Cannonball Adderley and Hank Crawford, inspiring him to take up the alto sax himself, but he also soon became interested in keyboards and bass.

In the late sixties, he left his home in Texas and moved to New York, where he joined his brother's band, in 1969 playing on their fantastic album 'Second Winter?, making a huge impression on the audience and talent scouts with his live performance. As a result, by 1970 Edgar had his own recording contract. Since those days in the early seventies, Edgar Winter has become an established great in the rock business, even though he has not had any spectacular chart success. He was a pioneer in integrating electronic effects into rock.

Rick Derringer was born in Celina, Ohio, and had his first hit when he was sixteen. As lead singer and lead guitarist with The McCoys, he recorded their catchy hit 'Hang on Sloopy?. Afterwards he joined Johnny Winter's band and produced several albums for him. In the mid-seventies, Derringer struck out on his own, recording albums and touring regularly. He has been a welcome studio guest for colleagues as diverse as Alice Cooper, Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan and Barbara Streisand. In 1990 he toured again with Edgar Winter - an event recorded on 'Edgar Winter And Rick Derringer Live In Japan?. Various joint projects have followed, as well as numerous blues recordings by Derringer, such as 'Back To The Blues? (1993) and 'Jackhammer Blues? (2000). At the Montreux Jazz Festival 1999, the pair even took the stage for a reunion with the White Trash Horns.
