NHE's third Delmark CD is a tribute to trumpeter Ameen Muhammad who made his transition on February 28, 2003, not long after the release of Capetown Shuffle, Live At The HotHouse (Delmark 545). Saxophonist Ernest Dawkins leads the band through the blues he and Muhammad heard on Chicago's South Side to the polyphonic music they studied together in the AACM. Mean Ameen is a sweeping musical tribute to the man who was internationally known as King Ameen.
