Detroit-born trombonist Curtis Fuller exhibited expert technique with his spirited phrasing and his wide octave leaps. The 1959 Down Beat International Critics Poll presented Curtis Fuller with an award for best new star trombone player three years before he recorded these albums that feature Tommy Flanagan on piano and Zoot Sims on tenor. Fullers' distinctive playing is exhibited on songs such as "Hello Young Lovers," "I'll Be Around," and "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child." |
