Ferociously independent - The Fall - a group now approaching 30 years on the road. Here, doing what they do best. Refining and re-defining their material in front of an audience. Glimpses of an era that sees Brix join (by then the 12th line-up of the group) and the embracing and swallowing of pop to deliver, in inimitable Fall fashion, a collection of songs that take us on a trip into the albums 'The Wonderful and frightening World of..." through "This Nation's Saving Grace' to touch the mid 80's "Bend Sinister.' An established favorite "Mere Pseud Mag. Ed." (no stranger to the set lists of the Fall of today) along with "Garden" remind me why The Fall are the yardstick by which all contemporaries should be measured....
Fronted by their ever-present leader, the irrepressible Mark E. Smith, the Fall's career now spans over twenty-five years and countless albums, full of Smith's sharp witted lyrics and the brilliantly inventive music created by the ever changing line up of musicians the frontman has enlisted. The band have always been a popular live draw - with Smith's wit and stage presence always to the fore - and nowhere more so than in their home city of Manchester. "Live At The Hacienda" features a collection of material taken from four shows the band played at the world famous Hacienda club in Manchester during the mid-1980's. Amongst the tracks featured are Independent Chart top five hit "Kicker Conspiracy" and live favourites including "God Box" and "What You Need". There is also some excellent bonus footage featuring an interview with Mark E. Smith.
