Jazz
Alec Dankworth (bass instrument) Phil Robson (guitars); Julian Arguelles (saxophone)
Given such a pedigree (his parents are clarinettist-composer John Dankworth and singer Cleo Laine, with sister Jacqui already an accomplished singer and actress), it's hardly a surprise that Dankworth - twice voted British Jazz bassist of the year - ended up following some leviathan musical footsteps.
'If you're Passing By' utilises a trio format with the somewhat unusual decision to exclude a percussionist. Rather, Alex has chosen to fill the trio with the sultry saxophone of Julian Arguelles and Phil Robson's intensely gripping yet smooth guitar.
