Jazz
Derived from a blend of sensuous Brazilian samba and cool American jazz, the music of composer Antonio Carlos Jobim speaks of beauty, heartbreak, and longing. The masterpieces here - including a moving duet with guitarist Pat Metheny, from Jobim's final concert appearance - are best heard in the wee hours of the night, when the magic of Jobim is its most seductive.
Original recordings produced by Creed Taylor (tracks 2-10, 12, 13, and 15); Paulo Jobim and Jaques Morelenbaum (tracks 1, 11, and 14); and Richard Seidel and Don Sickler (track 16). Supervised by Aric Lach Morrison. Selected and sequenced by Richard Ginell. Researched and restored by Ben Young. Digital assembly by Chris Herles at PolyGram Studios. |
