Renowned vocalist Susie Arioli returns with her newest release, Learn to Smile Again, featuring guitarist Jordan Officer, to be released October 11th on Justin Time Records. This thoughtful collection of timeless, classic songs is both elegant and evocative without sounding pretentious or crass. Featuring six Roger Miller compositions, Learn to Smile Again avoids overexposed standards, opting instead to mine the underexposed pleasures found in such Miller classics as "Husbands & Wives", "Less and Less" and "A Million Years or So".

Of the remaining five tracks, two are new, original instrumentals by Officer; one is a cover of Irma Thomas' "Ruler of the Heart", and another is the group's take on the jazz standard "By Myself". However, the track that's sure to win over new fans is the group's version of the Jimmy Webb classic, "By The Time I Get to Phoenix", a track that beautifully weds their sound with such genre-defying Americana/roots artists as k.d. lang, Emmylou Harris, Nanci Griffith and Cowboy Junkies.

With a solid fan base established in their native Canada, the group's two previous recordings have scanned nearly 30,000 units in this country and have also enjoyed healthy sales in France and the USA. Susie and Jordan have twice enjoyed the massive exposure generated by appearances on NPR, once as guests of Terry Gross on the wildly popular "Fresh Air", and another on "All Things Considered".

Arioli and Officer have been winning over new fans by the thousands since the release of their 2001 collaboration, It's Wonderful, which was quickly followed by Pennies From Heaven in 2002 and That's For Me in 2004, helmed by Grammy-winning producer John Snyder, who also acted as special consultant on this new recording. Singing and playing the snare drum, Arioli has found the perfect partner in Officer, a highly talented guitarist and arranger. Deftly combining elements of blues, western, swing and jazz - the classic and the obscure - the Susie Arioli Band has created its their own intoxicating sound. The group's undisputed artistry and uncluttered sound are refreshing in a music industry most would agree is short on depth.
