This is Russian born Alex Sipiagin's sixth album as a leader.Alex has become one of the most in-demand trumpeters in New York. Here the maturity of the musician is most in evidence among a cast of first rate musicians that includes Donny McCaslin,Robin Eubanks,Adam Rogers,HenryHey,Antonio Sanchez,Daniel .
Fellow trumpeters Earl Gardner and Randy Brecker recommended Sipiagin to become a member of the MingusBig Band in 1995, as well as Mingus Dynasty and Mingus Orchestra.In 2000, Dave Holland invited him to be a regular member of his bigband and his various small groups.In 2003 Sipiagin recorded withMichael Brecker's Quindectet,with which he toured alongside Michael Brecker's Sextet.Many of the recordings in which he has been involved have won Grammys. Alex has also performed with EricClapton, Dr.John, Aaron Neville, Elvis Costello, Michael Franks,and David Sanborn. |
