| A gifted instrumentalist and composer, he bridges the gap between classical artistry and popular warmth and was a key figure in the bossa nova movement. This DVD features a beautifully recorded performance by Baden Powell, done for Brazilian TV in 1990. The concert's a solo outing, done in that fragile mode that Baden used during the last decade of his life-a lightly dimmed version of his earlier brilliance, but one that made up for that loss with a deeper sense of sadness and soul. |
