Counting individuals such as Steve Albini, Ken Vandermark & John Corbett among their constituency. Han BENNINK may very well be the most accomplished, versatile & charismatic percussionist to emerge from the temperate hotbed of '60's Euro free jazz, having anchored groups featuring Peter Brotzmann, Misha Megelberg, Derek Bailey, Leo Cuypers, Don Cherry, John Tchicai, Paul Bley, ALEXANDER Von Schlippenbach, Cecil Taylor, Steve Lacy, LEE KONITZ, as well as countless other noteworthy projects under the hallowed auspices of Amsterdam's icp (instant composer's pool). It's truly difficult to imagine such classics as Nipples or Machine Gun existing without his enormous talent & presence. |
