Jazz
An ambitious later large work from Mike Westbrook -- an 80s session that recalls some of the majesty of his mid 70s recordings, complete with vocals from Kate Westbrook! The extended composition is a piece for voice, jazz orchestra, and chamber orchestra -- played here with a mix of sensitive, quieter moments and other passages that are much more powerful, and almost outside at times. Other players on the record include Brian Godding on guitar, Chris Biscoe on baritone sax, Peter Whyman on alto, Jean-Jacques Roussel on clarinet, and Westbrook himself on piano. Titles include "Vienna", "Wenceslas Square", "London Bridge", "Berlin Wall", and "Picardie".
