"The Hours" is much more then just a showcase for Alma's rich, lush voice - it's a deeply personal story that delivers both subtle and intricate versions of beautiful Montenegrin melodies, traditional gospel and American Songbook songs, as well as Alma's original compositions. Her writing is elegant and rewarding, making a wonderful connection between past and the present.
Born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, Alma Micic relocated to Boston after receiving a scholarship from Berklee College of Music. She has been residing in New York City since 2000, appearing at prominent jazz venues, as well as various international festivals and concert halls. Her first album "Introducing Alma" has been hailed as "a striking debut" by Jazz Review, and her singing as "confident, soulful, vulnerable, rhythmically savvy, with the most sensual vibrato you're likely to hear" by All About Jazz.
On "The Hours", Alma Micic is joined by a superb group of musicians including pianist Brandon McCune, bassist Sean Conly and drummer Gregory Hutchinson, along with guests Riley Bandy on alto saxophone and guitarist Rale Micic, who also produced the album.
