The Best of the Early Years may well be just that, since it is largely made up of Lee "Scratch" Perry productions from 1971, a group of recordings that many Bob Marley devotees feel were among the finest he and the Wailers ever did. Also included on the CD side of this dual CD/DVD package are a handful of Wailers self-productions from the same time period ("Concrete Jungle," "Trench Town Rock") as well as a couple of later Perry productions ("I Know a Place," "Natural Mystic") from 1977. The DVD side repeats the same audio set in 5.1 surround sound, and adds photos and other extras, which truthfully aren't anything to write home about. The music is great, though.
