The nucleus of Tribal Tech consists of guitarist Scott Henderson and bassist Gary Willis. This duo has been at the forefront of jazz-fusion for the last two decades. Primal Tracks is comprised of tracks from three early works by Tribal Tech, Nomad, Tribal Tech and Dr. Hee. Jazz-fusion guitar playing at its best! 13 tracks
Ever wish you could listen to the cool music on the early Scott Henderson and Tribal Tech CDs such as "Dr. Hee", "Nomad" and "Tribal Tech"? Enter "Primal Tracks", a collection of tracks from those long out-of-print recordings. Included are seven tracks from "Tribal Tech", four songs from "Dr. Hee" and three cuts from "Nomad". As Scott Henderson states, "When we're on the road, we get a lot of requests to play tunes from some of our earlier records which we know are hard to find (impossible might be more accurate). So Gary and I put together this compilation of our favorite tracks from the "Dr. Hee", "Nomad" and "Tribal Tech" albums. Hope you enjoy them, thanks for listening!" "Primal Tracks" has to be one of the best values on the planet.
Tribal Tech
Active Decades: '80s, '90s and '00s Genre: Jazz Styles: Fusion, Jazz-Rock
The virtuoso jazz fusion unit Tribal Tech was formed in 1984 by guitarist Scott Henderson and bassist Gary Willis, debuting a year later with Spears. Over the course of subsequent efforts including 1987's Dr. Hee, 1990's Nomad and 1992's Illicit, both Henderson and Willis emerged among the most acclaimed instrumentalists in contemporary jazz, with each frequently topping music magazine best-of lists; in the wake of 1995's Reality Check Tribal Tech went on hiatus to allow its members the opportunity to pursue solo projects, finally reuniting four years later for Thick. Rocket Science was released in fall 2000. ---Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide |
