Leading Italian trumpeter Marco Tamburini has established himself as a versatile performer and musician in both pop and classical idioms but is also an acclaimed jazz musician. Forming his great new quintet in New York, they mix sounds from Europe and the US to create an exciting new dialogue between these rich musical continents.
Marco explains his thoughts behind the quintet’s latest album:
”To travel doesn't only mean to visit places, but also - and mostly - to let oneself be carried by the emotions and memories which those places evoke. Here is the true sense of this all-Italian musical trip, starting from Isole ("Islands"), Capraia, near Livorno, on a warm misty morning, we steam down to Napoli (Naples), town of art, culture, deep human warmth. From the capital of Campania we go on to the Rifugi ("Refuges") in the Dolomites, lost in endless landscapes, and then down to the Capolinea in Milan, an obvious allusion to the memorable jazz club, no longer existing, a point of reference for musicians and fans, and a breeding ground for new talents and ideas.
We then leave again towards for Ostuni, in Puglia, for a fantastic summer holiday with my family: sweet and carefree days, accompanied by the theme of "All of You" at sunset by the seaside. Eventually we go back home, enveloped in an inspiring mist, dreaming of leaving again, on a new journey to goodness knows where, other destinations, other places, other people.” |
