For their second duet recording for the GSP label, guitarist Romero Lubambo and pianist Weber Drummond (no electronics this time) perform eight originals, a gentle version of "Desafinado," "There Is No Greater Love," and a Bach melody. While subtle Brazilian rhythms are often heard, the music (which is full of rich melodies) stretches beyond what one might expect, often being explorative jazz. The two musicians generally think as one, making it difficult to know what is improvised and what was worked out beforehand. Although the performances on 2 can serve as background music, it is best to play the music louder and listen to the sparks that fly between these two masterful musicians.
