Dublin's favorite songs and the "thinking man's rock band" U2 come live from a dramatic concert at Colorado's breathtaking outdoor Red Rocks Amphitheater. Bono is at his rock star best and guitarist The Edge is as technically adept as usual. Taped in the early day's of the band's lengthy career, U2 performs some of their now canonized classics including "Sunday Bloody Sunday," "Gloria," and "New Year's Day."
The concert film U2: Live at Red Rocks captured the Dublin quartet just as they began to amass a large following in America, four years before the release of The Joshua Tree -- the album that made them one of the most popular bands in the world. The band is at their most anthemic delivering such early favorites as "Sunday Bloody Sunday," "Gloria," and "New Year's Day." The historic Red Rocks venue provides a stirring backdrop for the band sweeping sound. This film offers an interesting counterpoint to the Rattle and Hum documentary, which captured the band at the height of their popularity.
