Clarinetist and arranger Sid Phillips led a band for many years after his association with Ambrose ended in the '30s, and this ASV/Living Era compilation includes most of his best sides. Leading with his most popular performance, "Hors d'Oeuvres," the disc includes Phillips' interpretations of a varied set of jazz age standards, including "I Got Rhythm," "Wabash Blues," "That's A-Plenty," "Strut, Miss Lizzie," and "Royal Garden Blues."
