Showcasing the talents of virtuosic and accomplished contemporary jazz performers, the Jazz Legends Live! series records artists in a wide variety of venues across the globe. This installment features Carmen McRae, whose beautiful voice and exceptional phrasing have garnered comparisons with Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald. McRrae is complemented by the soulful stylings of pianist Monty Alexander, whose playing combines the influences of his Jamaican heritage with such luminaries as Nat "King" Cole and Gene Harris. Ben Sidran, formerly of the Steve Miller Band and current purveyor of cool, laid-back jazz arrangements, joins them on the bill, as well as Frank Morgan and Charlie Byrd.
The sixth volume of Jazz Legends: Live! features performances by Monte Alexander, Ben Sidran, Frank Morgan, Carmen McRae, and Charlie Byrd. Each entry in the series from Quantum Leap is a compilation of concert clips by some of the top names in modern jazz music.
