Recorded: November 6, 1960, Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey
Freddie Hubbard was only 22 and McCoy Tyner 21 when they recorded this, Hubbard's second Blue Note album. The depth and maturity of their playing was astonishing then and has since stood the test of time. Incidentally, Tyner had recorded "My Favorite Things" with Coltrane just a couple of weeks earlier. Paul Chambers, after 5 years with Miles Davis, was pushing 25. The old men were Hank Mobley, 30, and Philly Joe Jones, 37.
Includes liner notes by Ira Gitler.
