Guest Performers: Brian Culbertson
As on his previous album, "BETWEEN US" sees Cole accompanied by some of contemporary jazz's finest, including guitarists Paul Jackson Jr. and Gerey Johnson, bassists Richard Patterson and Alex Al, percussionists Lenny Castro and Luis Conte, Hammond B3/Fender Rhodes master Ricky Peterson, drummer Michael White, and of course, the multi-instrumentalist/producer Culbertson taking on, among others, keyboards and drum programming. As evidence of the enormous talent brewing within the studio cast, the album's overall sound displays a vibrancy and energy that only occurs when musicians thoroughly enjoy playing together.
From the joyful "From The Start," to the slow-burning "For Your Love," to the ebullient title track, the songs of "BETWEEN US" (largely co-written by Cole and Culbertson) tap into the rollercoaster of emotional expressions that stem from romance and relationships. |
