2 LPs on 1 CD: PARDON MY DOO-WAH (1958) HEFTI HOT 'N HEARTY (1956)
Arranger, composer, and trumpet player, Neal Hefti is a triple-threat jazz musician of the first order. Famous for his strong swing sensibility, Hefti first built his reputation as an arranger for Woody Herman, Harry James, and Count Basie, but is perhaps best remembered by Baby Boomers as the composer of TV's "Batman" theme. Memorable songs on these two original Columbia recordings include "Two for the Blues" (which features lyrics by jazz vocalist Jon Hendricks), "Cool Blue," and "Buttercup." |
