| Dr. John, born Malcolm John Rebennack, was a leading musician in the New Orleans music scene as a guitarist and boogie and blues pianist. Following an accident to his hand from a gunshot he concentrated on the piano, playing countless sessions for Phil Spector, Sonny Bono and Harold Battiste, and in the late sixties became Dr. John The Night Tripper releasing his first album in 1968. After many more albums and sessions with John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Van Morrison and others Dr. John signed to Parlophone in the late nineties recording with Supergrass, Spiritualized, Paul Weller and Primal Scream bringing his music to a new audience. |
