Inspired by Bill Evans and McCoy Tyner, Michel Petrucciani had already developed his own style by the time he reached the United States in 1982. By 1984, this extraordinary pianist was on his own, leading an exceptional trio with Palle Danielsson and Eliot Zigmund.
Live At The Village Vanguard was made that March and captures the group in peak form, stretching out on such familiar jazz vehicles as "Nardis", "Oleo" and "'Round Midnight" as well as four originals by the pianist.
Live At The Village Vanguard was Michel's second and final album for George Wein's label before joining Blue Note in 1985. We are proud to acquire this early classic and make it available again. |
