"The Traveller," award-winning Dutch saxophonist Tineke Postma's compelling follow-up to her critically-acclaimed breakthrough album "A Journey That Matters" that garnered rave reviews in DownBeat, JazzTimes and Jazziz, is a sensational release showcasing her instrumental virtuosity and flair as a composer at the helm of an all-star quartet featuring pianist Geri Allen, drummer Terri Lyne Carrington and bassist Scott Colley. Winner of the coveted Revelations Award at the 2009 San Juan Jazz Festival in France and a finalist for the prestigious Paul Acket Award at the 2009 North Sea Jazz Festival, Postma has built up a global following touring and performing at clubs and concerts in over 20 countries around the world, including as a member of bassist Esperanza Spalding's band and as part of Carrington's "Billie And Me" project presented at Carnegie Hall and other illustrious venues. Postma is the only Dutch musician featured along side Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock and other legends in the four-part documentary series "Icons Among Us - Jazz In The Present Tense" (2009) showcasing the skills of the both veteran and rising jazz masters. Backed by a high-profile rhythm section composed of artists who are each leaders in their own right, Postma is poised to take her rightful place among the "best and brightest" jazz stars on the contemporary international scene. |
